Blood Grounds

The group spent an extended rest in the Library and woke refreshed the next morning.  Speaking with the Luminary did not reveal any additional information and the group decided to press on towards Tovag Baragu.  They left the library and found themselves again in the Ruby Court.  Leaving the court they followed the same path out that they came in on.  As they turned a corner in the Blood Grounds they saw before them four Dragonborn.   The Dragonborn moved menacingly toward the party and a battle was engaged.


Almost immediately the front of the party was hit by acid from Dragon Breath attacks but one of the enemy fell instantly after being attacked.  Two additional Dragonborn came charging from a side street and breathed lightning damage.  Demin attacked and moved into a nearby building looking out the windows for enemies to fire his crossbow at.  Mara attacked the nearest enemy but suddenly the one Dragonborn that seemed dead stood up and attacked again.  Between Mara and Pretis the Dragonborn Raiders fell although soon Pretis hit the dirt herself.

Just after Lythandar moved to the side of the party to cast a fireball at the rear of the enemy the ground under Alhellara and Melisana erupted.  A Blood Worm raised itself from the whole and did damage to Alhelllara, Melisana and Gofin.  In addition the three were also blinded.  Just after two more Dragonborn Raiders fell upon Gofin and Alhellara from the rear.  

Alhellara was able to use Healing Word on Pretis allowing her to rejoin the fight ans Mara moved forward to face the Slavers.  The "dead" Raiders stood up again but were quickly eliminated as Mara brought damage on all around her.  Demin was firing from inside the building and picked off a Raider but as usual it rose again.  Mara and Pretis finished off the two Slavers and just then Alhellara was grabbed by the Worm and dragged underground.  

Not knowing where Alhellara was Lythandar moved to dig in the last space she was seen, but alas he found nothing.  Pretis and Gofin joined the search for Alhellara as Demin, Melisana and Mara tried to finish off the last two Raiders.  Suddenly Alhellara appeared down the street from where she was last seen.  Just as the party finished off the Raiders the Worm again erupted and attacked several members of the group.  With half the party bloodied they finally finished off the worm and set down to rest and heal.

Demin found a Potion of Vitality on a search of the bodies but nothing else was seen.  After a short rest the group hurried its was out of Vor Rukoth and back to Coyote's Refuge.  Since it was only mid morning they set off on the Ruby Road to the south headed for the Skull Fields.  After about 4 hours of travel through the scrub brush and dry area they came to an area where the road dwindled to a path through and ancient battleground.  Bleached skulls of various races were scattered everywhere along with other bones.  Marching through the area the party came out on the other side to a lusher landscape of trees and grasses.

Spending the night without incident they left again in the morning, following the improved road.  About two hours later the group spied three Trolls besieging a open wagon on the roadway.

Scorecard:  The party received 629 XP for the battle with the Dragonborn and Blood Worm.  They now have 28262 XP and need 3738 more to reach 12th level.  The Potion of Vitality was kept by Demin for today anyway.
